Sound familiar?

You're great at the part you trained for.

You can walk into a room, read a body, and know what it needs. Your practice members trust you. That was never the question.

The question is everything else.

Nobody taught you how to lead any of it. So you did what most of us did. You borrowed someone else's way of leading. A practice management group's script. A coach's framework. The confident owner down the street who seems to have it all figured out.

And it never quite fit.

Every hat you wear. Some of them fill you up. Some of them are draining you dry.

What the heck is wrong with me, you wonder, that this works for everyone else? Nothing is wrong with you. You've been trying to lead with someone else's strengths. Of course it's exhausting.

The problem

We were never taught to lead.

More than 40% of our profession ends up running a practice, with almost no training in how to run one, and even less in how to lead one (Williams & Innes, 2012).

So the leadership training we do get comes from practice management groups. Cookie-cutter systems that worked for someone, built around that someone's strengths, not yours.

And the picture of a leader most of us carry around is the guy in the power suit at the head of the boardroom table. Commanding. Transactional. Most of us never fit that picture anyway.

Health professionals who get to use their strongest character strengths at work are less likely to burn out. Most chiropractic practice owners have never been asked what theirs are.Hausler et al., 2017

A different way in

Start from what you're built for.

Instead of asking what you're doing wrong, Aligned Authority asks what you're built for. Then it looks honestly at every hat you wear in practice and asks where those strengths are showing up, and where they've gone missing.

It's grounded in positive leadership, research on authentic, servant and transformational leadership in healthcare. These styles are linked with stronger teams, better retention and more satisfying work for the people inside them (Perez, 2021; Alilyyani et al., 2018).

I created it as my master's capstone in positive psychology, as a chiropractor who built a seven-figure practice by following someone else's blueprint, and then lost it.

And because change can feel unsafe in the body, even when it's good change, the workshop includes three short guided practices to help you stay steady while you make shifts, instead of sliding back to the old way.

What's inside

Four teaching sessions. Three guided practices.

Watch them in one sitting or across a week. Start with what you have capacity for.

Why Positive Leadership

My story, the two problems most chiropractic owners face with leadership, and what the research says about leading from strengths in healthcare. You'll meet the kinds of positive leadership (authentic, servant, transformational, spiritual) and start to see which one you already lean toward.

Your Character Strengths

The 24 VIA character strengths, what they look like in healthcare and in business owners, and how to find your top five. You'll take the free VIA assessment and see where your strengths show up in practice and where they're missing.

Your Working Genius

Patrick Lencioni's six types of working genius, applied to chiropractic practice. You'll see which work gives you energy, which is neutral, and which drains you. When I took it, I learned that rallying people and pushing tasks across the finish line, the two things I'd done all day for ten years, were both in my zone of frustration.

Rethinking Your Hats

The implementation session. You'll map every hat you wear on the Leadership Depletion-Renewal Grid, naming what each one actually brings up: frustrated, bored, calm, enthusiastic. Then you'll pick the easiest one to shift and plan one action for the next week, month and quarter.

Why I made this

It's the workshop I wish someone had handed me in 2013.

The biggest learning curve when I opened my first practice wasn't adjusting. It was learning how to lead in a way that felt like me and still worked.

I didn't figure it out. I followed the blueprint everyone handed me. Within five years I had a seven-figure practice, a 6,000-square-foot building and a team of twelve. And one day I sat on the floor of my newly remodeled office and ugly cried, trapped in a prison of my own making.

I was leading from everything except my own strengths. I didn't even know what they were. I judged myself for not building rigid care plans like everyone else. I lost my voice every single time we did a spinal screening. And for years I was the taskmaster chasing seven providers to finish their SOAP notes, which is about the most draining work there is for me.

Years later, after bankruptcy, two wrist surgeries and a long road back, I studied the research on what helps leaders flourish instead of burn out. Aligned Authority is what came out of it.

Been there. Bought the t-shirt. You don't have to.

From chiropractors I've worked with

Leading from who they are

"After working with Dr. Alex I launched the group program I'd been dreaming of for over a year. With Dr. Alex's help I hit my goal of 6 clients to launch with from one webinar and made an extra $9,000 in my practice that month. After feeling like it was so hard and being stuck, getting aligned with my personal values and working genius helped me be immediately successful."
Dr. Angie E., DC
"Dr. Alex helped me formulate a very doable plan. She was very skilled at listening to my needs and helped me come up with solutions that fit my personality. She was also very accepting and supportive in finding a way that was aligned with my strengths and helped me determine the best order in which to take each step."
Dr. Maria P., DC
"Huge ROI! Dr. Alex helped me create a high ticket offer that feels really good [...] while allowing myself to be me and really own who I am as a practitioner and practice owner."
Dr. Suzanne P., DC

Is this for you?

This is for you if

  • You own a chiropractic practice and you're great at the clinical work, but leading the business has never felt natural
  • You've tried someone else's leadership style or system and it never fit
  • You end most days drained by work you think you're supposed to be good at
  • You'd like to know what you're actually built for, and use it
  • You want something you can start tonight, on your own time

This isn't for you if

  • You want a script to hand your team on Monday
  • You're looking for a marketing or billing system
  • You're not willing to look honestly at how you're showing up

Investment

$47 one time

About two and a half hours of teaching and practices, the workbook, the Flourishing Handbook, lifetime access, and any updates I make. I price it this way because I'd rather you have this than wonder about it. Charging for it is also my commitment that the time you spend inside is worth it on its own.

Questions

I don't have time for another program.

This isn't a program. It's about two and a half hours, broken into seven videos. Watch one on a lunch break. The longest is 42 minutes and the shortest is under 10.

I've already paid for coaching that didn't deliver. Why is this different?

Most leadership training hands you a system and asks you to become the kind of person it was built for. This works the other way around. It starts with what you're already good at, then builds from there. And at $47, you're not betting much to find out.

Is this live, or a group?

No. It's on demand and private. You watch on your own schedule.

Do I need to take any assessments?

Yes, two. The VIA Character Strengths assessment is free. The Working Genius assessment is through The Table Group and costs about $25. You can watch the workshop first and take them as you go.

Do I need a team?

No. Whether you have twelve staff or none, you're still wearing every hat. The workshop works either way.

Can I do this on my own?

Yes. In the implementation session I suggest bringing in a friend or colleague whose strengths are different from yours, especially someone strong in invention. Fresh eyes see options you can't. If you don't have that person, the guided practices help you find your own answers.

Will you try to sell me something at the end?

At the very end of the last teaching video, I invite you to reach out if you want to go deeper with me. It takes about a minute. That's it.

Is this therapy?

No. I hold a master's degree in positive psychology and multiple HeartMath certifications, but I'm not a therapist. The practices here help you stay steady while you make changes in how you lead.
