The Deeper Work Journey · Ten months · Private 1:1, on your own or with your team

Ten months to become the owner your plan needs

For chiropractic practice owners who've already paid for coaching that promised the world and left them feeling just as unfulfilled. This is the inner work that makes your plan possible to build, with support the whole way. From $8,000.

Private and 1:1. Your sessions are just you and me. If your team joins, their sessions are only your practice too. This isn't a group program or a cohort with other chiropractors.

10 months to peel back the layers blocking your success.

Crossing the bridge takes more than a list of actions. It requires you to show up differently in the world as a leader and business owner. And some deep inner work to get there. This is a ten month container of healing and growing at the root level– your identity, worth, leadership, and well-being– and learning to build your practice from your own creativity and intuition, so the transformation in your practice is real, not a pipe dream that never gets realized.

Owning a practice can be one of the most challenging things you ever do. Choosing to do the hard work that goes far deeper than your systems and marketing strategy will help you find the success and life you envision much faster.

You have a plan.

The plan

Maybe you built it with me in the Foundation Intensive. Maybe it's in a notebook you filled in at 11 p.m. after a hard week. The plan is good.

Three weeks later

Three weeks later, or even the following Monday, you're back to repeating the same patterns and actions that have been keeping you stuck all along. The new thing feels hard. It’s easier to do what you’ve always done.

And then

And gradually the vision fades into the background again. Forgotten in a notebook shoved onto a bookshelf until your next 11 p.m. breakdown.

The reason? Transformation of a business requires something to transform in you first.

That’s not just a suggestion. Every organizational development and change theory I’ve read says the same thing–the person leading the change dictates whether it succeeds or fails. You have to become someone you haven't given yourself permission to become yet:

the one who says no,who leads instead of covering, who makes decisions from worth instead of fear or following the flock.

The workshop and intensive help you create the vision and the bridge to get to that vision. This part of the journey is where we walk through the fire with you while you grow into who you need to be to actually cross the bridge to the side of freedom and fulfillment in your practice.

1:1 Mentoring & Leadership Coaching

While I’m not a therapist, how I approach mentoring and coaching has often been described as therapy for you and your business. I am also not your average “business coach” speaking only from my practice experience. While practice experience is relevant, my coaching draws on my own background as a board certified coach with focuses in HeartMath, positive psychology and leadership coaching.

This is leadership coaching and inner-world healing designed for you, the owner, and not some cookie cutter blueprint and online course to work through. Our 1:1 sessions may be supplemented with resources I’ve created to support putting your plan into practice. The bulk of this journey is about our 1:1 work together. We start with two to three 60-minute sessions a month, then find a rhythm over the ten months that meets you where you are. In person or virtual.

What changes

  • Saying no to a patient request, a staff request, or a coach's upsell, without replaying it in your mind for days afterwards
  • Making a decision because you chose to, not because you were reacting to something
  • Walking into a team meeting where you're not the only person who knows where the practice is going
  • Quoting your fees without explaining them
  • Getting home with something left for the people waiting there
  • Taking a vacation and actually being able to unplug and be on vacation
  • A practice that's become the thing you've always dreamed of but didn't think could exist

“When a client finishes working with me, the thing that's most different isn't what they do. It's how they experience doing it.”

Why I do this work

I built a seven-figure chiropractic practice that started with a borrowed portable table, with my six-week-old son strapped to my chest. It was a choice I made after a horribly toxic associateship left me never wanting to work for anyone else ever again. I did it by doing what everyone else was doing and without any solid identity as a business owner. To the outside world I arrived at the dream in 5 years. Inside I felt like I was trapped in a prison of my own making. Then an insurance audit, a wrist torn in six places, and an eventual bankruptcy took it all. I left the profession for three years claiming I was “retired” at age 36. The truth was, the profession I loved had left me crushed and broken. It took me six years, but I eventually found my way back.

What I learned on the way back is what this Journey is built on: the practice I'd built couldn't hold because I'd never built an identity as its owner. I'd only ever built one as a clinician with no real roots as a practice owner. Now I both practice again completely differently, and most importantly, I help other chiropractors navigate what I had to walk through the fire to learn and completely transform their experience of owning a practice.

With your team

Everything in the individual Journey, plus up to 5 of your team. You get your own sessions, your team gets theirs, and once a month I facilitate a full-team session to help you all navigate changing and growing together. You don't have to figure out how to bring your team along on your own. We do it together.

What clients say it feels like

“Working with Dr. Alex felt like therapy for my practice. When I started working with Dr. Alex I was so burnt out I didn't know if I wanted to keep practicing. Through our work together I realized I did want to keep practicing and found my connection to why again. I also found the energy to create and launch a hybrid offer for my pregnant practice members that helped me deepen how I help others, and gave me some freedom to spend more time with my family.”

— Dr. Kasey P., DC

While I hold a master's degree in positive psychology and multiple HeartMath™ certifications, I am not a therapist. Despite that, my clients often describe working with me as therapy because of the depth of the work we do together. Our focus is on how you can learn from what brought you here, and use it to move forward.

“She guided me through some significant changes in my life and supported me every step of the way.”— Karen R., Corporate Senior Vice President and Certified Master Coach

Is this for you?

This is for you if:

You believe you can build the practice you really want and honor yourself in the process
You're willing to do the uncomfortable things, like learning to say no
You believe the answers start with the inner work
You're willing to look at your patterns and question what you believe about yourself
You're ready to listen to your body and your needs instead of just pushing

This isn't the right fit if you're looking for a new script, a new blueprint, or a fix that stays on the surface.

If you've completed the Foundation Intensive, its full price is credited: $1,250 individual, $3,250 team.

If you've paid for a program or two that didn't deliver, you already know the invoice wasn't the real cost. The real cost was another year running the same practice the same way.

Your first 30 days

If the Journey isn't the right fit within 30 days of enrolling, you'll get back what you've paid for anything you haven't used yet. Sessions already held, and an intensive already completed, aren't refundable. Regular sessions outside of the journey are $350/session for an individual, $550/session for a group/team. The intensive is $1250 for an individual or $3250 for a team.

How to join

Fill out a short application about you and your practice.
We meet for a conversation to make sure we're a fit for each other. No script and no pressure.
If it's a yes for both of us, you choose individual or team, and pay in full or on the plan.

Most people come to the Journey from the Foundation Intensive, so we've usually had that conversation already.

Questions

Tap a question to open it.

Is this a group program with other chiropractors?

No. The Journey is private, 1:1 mentoring. Your sessions are just you and me. If your team joins, their sessions and the monthly full-team session are only your practice. You won't be in a cohort or on a group call with other chiropractors.

I've already paid so much for coaching that didn't do what it promised. Why would this be different?

Some of what you learned was probably useful. Most coaching fails at the same point: it hands you a plan and assumes you can become the person who carries it out on your own just by following the plan. The Journey is built for that exact gap. We work on you, the owner, alongside the plan–and your team if you have one, for long enough that the change holds.

I don't have time for ten months of this.

It's two to three sessions a month in the beginning. As you grow and find stability that frequency can decrease. You will also learn some simple, easy to implement and not time consuming tools to help change your inner world as you make changes in your practice. The work is aimed squarely at the things eating your time now: the reactive decisions, the saying yes, the difficulty delegating and the staying stuck.

Is this therapy?

No. It often feels that way to clients because of how deep the work goes. The focus is forward: learning from what brought you here and using it to build what's next.

What if the answer is to leave practice?

That's allowed. Together we will help you navigate the fear and grief that can often surface with that realization. And together help you create the future you’re ready to live into. Change can go in any direction. The work is about building from who you are, and being open if that leads somewhere new.

Can my team join partway through?

Yes you can decide to have your team join at any point within the first 6 months of the process. We are both training you to be the leader you need to be to build what you want, and helping you enroll the people who will be part of making that change happen. While a lot of it is your work, at some point it becomes a collective journey.
